Fall Fun: Join Our Playgroups!

Fall is here. And along with pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, and leaf peeping, our fall playgroups are back! We can’t wait to welcome you and your littles for lots of fall fun. 

For those who are new to the Talk Time community, this blog will answer some of our most-asked questions about our playgroups so you know what to expect. 

Who Can Join Playgroups?

All kids, regardless of current level of communication, are welcome to join our playgroups! You’ll find kids with typical communication, neurodivergent kiddos, littles with expressive and receptive communication delays, and children who need support with social communication all enjoying our backyard fun.

What Ages Are Playgroups Designed For?

We have playgroups designed for two age groups: Little Explorers is designed for toddlers aged 1-3 who prefer exploring at their own pace and involves more free play. Little Navigators is designed for kids ages 4-6 and offers more structure, encouraging collaboration, team-building, turn-taking, and following directions.

Is This Speech Therapy?

Short answer: no! We describe our playgroups as language-rich, providing focused exposure to communication-enhancing supports; but they are not therapeutic. They are designed by our Talk Time team speech-language pathologists and run by a qualified SLP and/or experienced early childhood educators. What Kind of Activities Should I Expect?

For our Little Explorers (ages 1-3), each session begins with a lively circle time featuring songs, stories, and dances. Afterward, our little ones enjoy free play at our outdoor stations, exploring a range of activities like art, sensory play, motor play, and more.

Our Little Navigators (ages 4-6) program begins with a more focused circle time to help build conversation skills, introduce the theme, and preview the day's activities. Children then move on to free play at our outdoor stations, with choices from complex crafts to fun, open-ended activities that spark creativity.​

At the end of each session, you’ll take home a handout that offers home activity suggestions to support language development across multiple domains.

Do I Drop My Kids Off?

No, all littles at playgroups should be accompanied by a grown up. We love caregiver participation!

Where Do Playgroups Take Place?

Our outdoor backyard location is ~10 minute walk from Arlington Center and is accessible via the Minute Man Bike Trail and MBTA bus lines. There is free parking on nearby side streets. A full address will be given to you upon enrollment. In case of inclement weather, our playgroups move inside to our clinic at 22 Mill Street, Suite 408.

How Much Do Playgroups Cost?

$150 for an 8-week bundle, $100 for a 4-week bundle. What a bargain! Keep an eye on our Instagram for regular giveaways too!

Can’t commit to the whole series? No worries! We are happy to offer vouchers for missed sessions, and are excited to open single-session, drop-in enrollment once sessions begin.
