Meet Fiona, Speech Language Pathologist at Talk Time Boston. Fiona is passionate about Augmentative and Alternative Communication and supporting emergent communicators to help build their autonomy, including their access to literacy. She has experience working with a range of child profiles -- from low to high support needs -- ranging from early childhood to early adulthood using multi-modal communication including no, low, and high tech systems. Additionally, she is skilled at supporting parents through family education as stakeholders in their child's communication. Fiona is always exploring and learning how to better support complex communicators, and she can't wait to work with your child this summer!

CAREGIVER INVOLVEMENT

During the week, we will be focusing on learning and practicing communication partner strategies to support children who are using AAC. Parents will have the opportunity to practice modeling in and how to support their children build their language using AAC as well as support their early literacy skills.

AAC users are sometimes a small group in their communities, and we are excited to provide an avenue for families to connect with other families who have similar experiences and are navigating similar challenges.
